Day 1: Travel from Mwanza to the Serengeti

Travel from Mwanza to the Serengeti via a smooth tarmac road, entering the park through the Ndabaka Gate. Begin your adventure by exploring the Western Corridor, where you’ll witness a variety of wildlife in their natural surroundings. Make a stop at the Grumeti River and Retima Hippo Pool, well-known for their high populations of hippos and large Nile crocodiles. Continue your journey toward the Seronera region, a prime area for spotting predators such as leopards, lion prides, packs of spotted hyenas, and the swift cheetah. You’ll also encounter an array of plains game including buffaloes, topis, hartebeests, wildebeest, waterbucks, elands, zebras, gazelles, and warthogs. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the chance to observe over 100 bird species in a single day. In the evening, head to your tented camp or lodge for dinner and a restful overnight stay in the heart of the Serengeti.

Day 2: Serengeti – Mwanza

Enjoy a full day exploring the Serengeti ecosystem. Begin with an early morning game drive at around 6:00 AM, followed by breakfast. Continue with extended game drives across the vast plains of Serengeti, taking time to visit the distinctive rock outcrops known as Kopjes (pronounced “copies”), a term borrowed from Afrikaans meaning “small hills” or “spearheads.” These rocky formations serve as key habitats and breeding grounds for predators like cheetahs, lions, leopards, and wild dogs. You may spot lions lounging on these rocks, especially in areas known as Simba Kopjes named for the frequent presence of lions (simba means lion in Swahili). After an exciting morning of wildlife viewing, stop for a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, begin your journey back to Mwanza with game drives along the way. You’ll arrive in Mwanza by evening.
