The Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro is one of the most breathtaking trails to Mount Kilimanjaro’s summit. Starting from the western side of the mountain, this trail is known for its remote and unspoiled beauty. During the first two days, hikers pass through quiet rainforest before crossing the spectacular Shira Plateau, where the views open up dramatically.

Unlike some other routes, Lemosho provides more time for gradual acclimatization and increases summit success rates. Over 7 days, you’ll experience diverse ecosystems: rainforest alive with colobus monkeys, rolling heather and moorland, volcanic landscapes around Lava Tower, and the icy glaciers of Kibo before standing proudly at Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point.

✅Unmatched Scenic Beauty – Lemosho offers panoramic views from day one, with a trail that crosses pristine rainforest, the vast Shira Plateau, and dramatic ridges before joining the Machame Route.

✅Excellent Acclimatization – With its longer itinerary (7–8 days), Lemosho provides more time to adjust to the altitude, greatly increasing the summit success rate.

✅Less Crowded at the Start – Unlike the Machame and Marangu routes, Lemosho begins on the quieter western side of Kilimanjaro, giving trekkers a more peaceful and immersive wilderness experience.

✅High Summit Success Rates – Thanks to its gradual ascent and extra acclimatization days, Lemosho boasts one of the highest summit success rates of all Kilimanjaro routes.

✅Best of Both Worlds – Lemosho combines wilderness solitude at the beginning with the sociable and scenic Machame Route later on, making it ideal for climbers who want a balanced adventure.

  • Hiking time: 12–14 hours total.
7
